The Golden Horn by bus: they are approximately 8 km long, on a route shaped like a narrow horn that divides the European coast in two. Since it is a natural port, the Byzantine and Ottoman navies, and those interested in commercial transport, gathered there. At sunset, the color of the water turns to gold and today the shores are surrounded by pleasant parks and trails.
Spice Bazaar (Egyptian Bazaar), the second largest closed bazaar in Istanbul. It was christened Valide Bazaar when it was first founded, but was given the name Mısır Çarşısı (Egyptian Bazaar). The Rumeli Fortress (from the sea, no inside visit), was built in 1452 to avoid the help and reinforcement of the Black Sea during the siege of Istanbul. It was restored and turned into a museum in 1950. Hisariçi (Inside the fortress) is often used as an open-air theater.

Hagia Sophia, once described as the largest church in Christendom, is certainly a masterpiece with a synthesis of the West and the East and was built by Constantine the Great in 325 on the remains of a pagan temple. It was later rebuilt by Justinian and Theodora. In 1453, Mehmet the Conqueror added minarets to the huge dome and turned the old church into a mosque. The building was controversially converted into a museum in 1935, but the interior retains its religious associations with the Christian mosaics and Muslim calligraphic discs that adorn its walls and piers.
The Blue Mosque has a special place among the various Ottoman buildings built on Sultanahmet Square. It was built by Sedefkar Mehmet Aga, who took into account the classical Ottoman architecture and the Hagia Sophia church for the design and construction of the Blue Mosque; he also created an interior space that is more spacious, well-lit and airy than the others. It is known as the Blue Mosque for the blue tiles that adorn the walls of its interior.
Hippodrome: it is a public park that at the time of the Byzantine Empire was used for ceremonies and sporting events (chariot races, athletics). The obelisk of Theodosius, the column of serpents, the column of Constantine and the German fountain of Wilhelm II are the monuments that decorate the Hippodrome.
The Topkapi Palace, which was the seat of government for the Ottoman Empire that ruled three continents for centuries, was built between the years of 1460 and 1478 during the reign of Sultan Mehmed II (The Conqueror). It was the home of the sultans and their families until the reign of Sultan Abdülmecit. Therefore, it has a very rich collection of porcelains, clothes, weapons, shields, armor, miniatures, manuscripts of Islamic calligraphy, as well as Ottoman treasures and jewelry.

The ancient city of Ephesus is a prominent example of a Roman port city, with a sea channel and a port basin. It was the Hellenic capital of Greece and was the capital of the province of Asia of the Roman Empire. Ephesus was a very important city economically, geographically, politically and culturally. Many classical philosophers read today, such as Heraclitus, lived in the scientific, cultural and artistic field of the city of Ephesus.
After entering the Magnesia Gate we start a slow descent down the hill with our guide. The route takes us to The Odeon (concert venue), the baths of Varius (used as a gymnasium), Prytaneion (administrative offices where religious ceremonies, official receptions and banquets were also held), Agora (Ephesus commercial market), the temple of Hadrian (dedicated to Emperor Hadrian, Artemis and the people of Ephesus), the Trajan’s fountain (built in honor of Emperor Trajan) and the Grand Theater. The theater had seating for 24,000 people and was the site where St. Paul is believed to have preached to the Ephesians and is used today for a local spring festival.
Library of Celsus, is the most distinctive building and one of the most photographed structures that is commonly associated with Ephesus. It was erected by Tiberius Julius Eagle Polemeanus (son of Tiberius Julius Celsopolemeanus). It is estimated that the construction was completed in 117 A.D. It is made in a very good marble with figures of Eros, Nike and garlands in relief.
House of the Virgin Mary. It is near the top of Bülbül Mountain, one of the hills overlooking Selçuk. After the death of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary went to Ephesus with John, where she lived until her death, at the age of 101. This church is an important pilgrimage center for Christians and is declared sacred. There is also a spring that is believed to be healing. Popes Paul VI and John Paul II visited this house.
The Temple of Artemis: at one time it was the largest in the world, eclipsing even the Parthenon in Athens, and thus gaining a place in the list of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Only one of its original 127 columns remains to this day, often surmounted by a stork’s nest; a poignant testament to nature’s transition and human achievement. It is still a charming and quiet place where the huge pillar gives an idea of the vast size of the temple.
End of the tour, overnight in Kusadasi.
DAI7:
Have breakfast at the hotel. Pick up at the hotel to continue to Pamukkale. This is a magical, unique place, a natural wonder with its dazzling cobbled white castles. Thermal springs with limestone and salt, which are poured on the shore of the plateau, form these wonderful stalactites, waterfalls and ponds. Here we find healing waters that have been used as a therapy since Roman times and nowadays it is possible for visitors to walk in these ponds/waterfalls, which causes the calcium carbonate to disperse like a jelly.
Hierapolis, known as the “Sacred City”, due to its numerous temples and religious buildings, is located on the same plateau as the thermal pools. This place offers visitors an insight into the natural gifts of the region and the cultural riches that man added to nature. This ancient city is located 20 km. north of Denizli, justly famous for the buildings and artifacts discovered during extensive excavations. The geographers of antiquity, Strabo and Ptolemy, assured that Hierapolis was a Phrygian city, due to its proximity to Laodicea in Lycus and Tripoli, cities located on the border with the region of Caria.
